REGIONAL CAREERS
Manufacturing
The manufacturing sector accounts for more than 33,000 jobs in the greater SRSCRO region, providing new products like transportation equipment, medical supplies and food goods. Manufacturing careers involve a variety of skill sets and job titles including technicians, managers, quality assurance specialists and more. Local technical colleges, chambers of commerce and economic development entities provide information about specific manufacturing companies and careers.
Manufacturing & Education Connections, a forum hosted by the SRSCRO, brought regional educators and manufacturers together during June 2017 to explore new ways to build the manufacturing talent pipeline. Best practices were highlighted. Apprenticeship programs, like Youth Apprenticeship Carolina, are introducing students to today’s modern manufacturing techniques. The Reaching Potential through Manufacturing (RPM) partnership program involving Richmond County schools and Textron Specialized Vehicles is inspiring a new generation.
Check out Manufacturing Day and participate in the national event that is inspiring the next generation of manufacturers and explores modern manufacturing careers.
