REGIONAL CAREERS
Healthcare
Over 30,000 workers are employed in the growing medical sector of the greater SRSCRO region, with healthcare services provided by multiple major hospitals. Also, the next generation of medical professionals are trained locally at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.
The medical sector is comprised of three primary segments: ambulatory health care services, hospitals and nursing/residential services. About 47% of all healthcare employment in the region comes from the ambulatory health care services segment, which is also the fastest growing.
The SRSCRO brought educators and employers together during June 2019 for the Healthcare & Education Connections forum. Attendees remarked that this was the first time a regional discussion was held locally to address the changing medical workforce demands.
SRSCRO is committed to supporting a well-trained and highly qualified workforce that meets the ongoing needs of the industry in this region.
